On Friday, 10th October, 2025, Her Excellency Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang took the opportunity of her participation in the Global Gateway Forum held in Brussels, to have an interactive session with the Ghanaian community in Belgium.
Her Excellency the Vice President expressed appreciation to the chiefs, elders, members of the Ghana Council and the youth in the diaspora for their continued support and contributions to national development. She encouraged them to continue to exhibit patriotism and support the Government’s agenda to address the developmental challenges of the country.
Several key issues were raised, including food safety, youth discipline, labour export, illegal mining (galamsey), remittances, scholarships and the role of Ghanaians with dual nationality in public administration and governance.
The Vice President assured Ghanaians that the Government remains fully committed to ending the menace of Galamsey.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang disclosed that a plethora of measures are being implemented to ban mining in forest reserves and water bodies.
The Vice President acknowledged that fixing the problems will take time, but assured the Ghanaian community that the government’s efforts will yield dividends in due course.
