The Ambassador of the Republic of Guinea to the Kingdom of Belgium, the European Union and the European Atomic Energy Community, Her Excellency Madame Aicha Nanette Conté. paid a courtesy call on the Ambassador of Ghana His Excellency Henry Tachie-Menson.
The two Ambassadors discussed issues of common interest, including strategies to enhance bilateral relations between Ghana and Guinea.
During the engagement, the Ambassador of Guinea indicated that her assumption of her role coincides with a period of resurgence for Guinea within the multilateral setup after the inauguration of His Excellency Mamadou Doumboya as the 5th President of the Republic of Guinea on 17th January, 2026.
She reiterated that it is with great honour that she gets to serve as an Ambassador at a time where the sanctions from ECOWAS, the African Union and La Francophonie have been lifted.
The Ambassador of Ghana, who currently doubles as the coordinator of the West Africa Group of Ambassadors in Brussels, welcomed his Guinean counterpart and noted that her appointment and resumption of duty makes her the only female Ambassador within West African Group of Ambassadors as it stands.
He emphasised the historic significance of the relations between Ghana and Guinea, referring in particular to the relationship that famously existed between the first Presidents of both republics, His Excellency Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah of Ghana and His Excellency Sekou Toure of Guinea . He mentioned that the relationship between both countries continue to deepen, as exemplified by the new directive of the President of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama for the Government of Ghana to initiate talks for the repossession of the residence which belonged to Dr. Kwame Nkrumah in Guinea.
The meeting concluded with mutual expressions of gratitude for the initial discussions and a commitment to re-engage on the matters that came up for discussions.
It was also agreed that the necessary arrangements will be made in due course for the new Ambassador to be introduced to her colleagues in the West African group.
Finally, the two Ambassadors expressed willingness to promote cultural and social interaction between diplomats of both Embassies.
