GHANA CHAIRS FIRST MEETING OF AMBASSADORIAL WORKING GROUP ON FISHERIES (AWG)
Ghana began her role as Chair of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) Ambassadorial Working Group on Fisheries (AWG) with the first meeting held on Thursday, 8th October, 2020.

The OACPS approved Ghana’s chairmanship of the Group on 23rd June, 2020, in preparation for the 7th meeting of OACPS Ministers in charge of Fisheries and Aquaculture, to be held in Accra, Ghana, in 2021.

The role will also see Ghana leading the efforts for the OACPS to harness fisheries as a major economic potential for sustainable development in OACPS member states. Ghana also hopes to use her Chairmanship of the Group to focus on areas such as the European Green Deal, the Blue Economy and sustainable environment for the benefit of OACPS member states.
