AMBASSADOR SENA SIAW-BOATENG PAYS A COURTESY CALL ON H. E. MR. PIERRE GRAMEGNA, MINISTER OF FINANCE OF THE GRAND DUCHY OF LUXEMBOURG
H.E. Mrs. Sena Siaw-Boateng, Ambassador of Ghana to the Kingdom of Belgium Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and Head of Mission to the European Union, led a delegation to Luxembourg City for a meeting with H.E. Mr. Pierre Gramegna, Minister of Finance of Luxembourg, on 8th February, 2021.

The two (2) sides held productive discussions on several areas of shared interests, particularly strengthening bilateral economic cooperation in ICT, infrastructure, eco-innovation, Fintech and fighting COVID-19, among others.

In her remarks, the Ambassador expressed her appreciation to the Luxembourg side for its continued support for Ghana’s financial sector, while noting the immense potential for further cooperation. She further conveyed the greetings of Hon. Ken Ofori-Atta, who awaits confirmation as Minister for Finance of the Republic of Ghana for the second consecutive time, following the re-election of H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as President of Ghana for a second term. H.E. Mrs. Siaw-Boateng alluded to the trade mission to Ghana in October, 2018, which was led by the Chamber of Commerce of Luxembourg and the recent negotiation and initialling of a Bilateral Air Services Agreement as examples of concrete achievements in the ever-growing relations between the two countries. She also highlighted the completion of formalities for the official recognition of Mrs. Carine Oberweis Boakye-Agyei as the Honorary Consul of Ghana in Luxembourg as another concrete achievement in bilateral relations.

Ambassador Siaw-Boateng expressed the hope that both countries would, in the near future, conclude the signing of a Double Taxation Agreement to consummate the desire of both sides to enhance bilateral economic relations and cooperation in tax matters in particular.

For his part, H.E. Mr. Pierre Gramegna thanked the Ghana side for its visit despite the challenging circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic and expressed interest in strengthening bilateral relations in the future in the economic, cultural and human realm, as well as in the financial sector.
